Keto Journey

WoW! It has been way too long since I've blogged! Since then, I lost 40 lbs total and put it all back on :-(

However, I started on a Keto Journey back in the end of February this year (2017). It all started because of my husbands physical in the beginning of the year. His blood work came back pre-diabetic. He was already on blood pressure medicine, cholesterol medicine, and something else (can't remember off the top of my head...) Anyway, so he knew someone who was following the Fork Over Knives lifestyle. We tried it.... barely lasted a month before we decided that way was not for us! So, I started researching and came across something called Keto.

Keto or Ketogenic is basically a low carb, moderate protein, high fat, no sugar lifestyle. We decided to try it! But what that also meant was NO bread, NO potatoes, NO rice, NO pasta... WHAT?? My Italian husband would no longer be allowed to have Pasta, Pizza, Subs?? That's right!!

Honestly, I thought it was going to be really tough. But it really hasn't been. I'll be honest though, we do cheat from time to time and it's usually not on bread. It's usually at Dairy Queen.... those darn blizzards!! Regardless of those moments of weakness, I'm super happy to tell you that we have both lost over 40 lbs now and my husbands blood work has come back 'normal'. And he was told that when it's checked again, and if it's stays normal, he'll be able to go off of all his medications!! WooHoo!! Now that's what I'm talking about! AND... I have not started an actual exercise routine yet! Yes, that's right, I've lost over 40 lbs (44 to be exact!) just by changing my diet and doing my normal walking! I love it!!

So, I'll leave you with a before pic and next time I'll post the 'so-far' pic because I am far from being done!
